First Baptist Church of Horizon City

pastor wes Welcome to our community.  As a pastor, it is such a joy to serve in a church that is a safe place to explore the spiritual and practical questions of life.  We are committed to helping families find the hope and wholeness that can only come through personal faith in Jesus Christ.  When you visit us, you will find our music inspiring, our sermons relevant and our people to be genuine in their compassion and love for each other.  I encourage you to take the time to explore this website and discover all that First Baptist Church of Horizon City has to offer.  Please contact us for any ministry or prayer concerns.

Change is Good

Beginning Sunday, April 18, 2010 we will discontinue our 8am service time and changing the times for our main worship service and Sunday School.  We will be moving to one worship service.  The new times for Sunday School will be 8:45am - 9:45am and the worship service will be from 10:00am - 11:00am.

Disciple Now

This is youth event in Aspendale February 26-28, 2010.  Youth ages 12 - 18 years old will engage in fellowship, Bible studies, and recreational activities.  All youth are encouraged to attend.  The cost is $55.00 per youth.  For more information contact Kenta or Nicole Matsuda.

US Census Bureau

The US Census Bureau will be testing at FBC of Horizon City on the following dates:  Wednesday, February 10th at 12:00pm, Saturday, February 20th at 9:00am, and Monday, February 22nd at 6:00pm.  Practice tests are available in the foyer along with other testing information.

Couples Night

We are currently working to organize a couples night out at La Terraza.  This would be a time for couples to dine out and fellowship with other couples.  Child care will be available at the church for the evening.  In order to make this night a success we need your help; we need to know how many couples plan to attend and how many children we need to provide care for.  There is a signup sheet in the foyer as well as a menu.  It is important that couples with children sign up for child care as we will prepare based on the number of children signed up.  All couples, all ages are encouraged to attend.  For further information please feel free to contact Maggie Speed.

Angel Food Ministries

We conducted our first Angel Food monthly distribution on January 23rd. We appreciate all the help in this project.  The February specials are posted in the church foyer.  The deadline for ordering for February is Thursday, February 18 and food distribution will be on Saturday, February 27th.

First Baptist Church of Horizon City is now a host location (distribution center) for Angel Food Ministries. Angel Food Ministries, is an organization dedicated to providing affordable, high-quality food to those in need, is offering relief and joy to families in our city.  For more information on this ministry visit our Angel Food Ministries page.

Media Ministry Help Needed

Are you looking for a ministry to be involved in?  If so, we are looking for you.  The Media Ministry is in need of individuals to help in that area.  Our goal is to have several individuals trained and set up a rotational work schedule so that individuals do not have to "work the booth" every Sunday. After a short training, individuals will be asked to help on some Wednesday evenings getting the media (mostly song lyrics) ready for Sunday and "running the show" during the Sunday services.  If you are interested in serving in this area or just want some more information, contact Jim Day.  You can talk to him at the church or call him at 490-7988.

Guatemala Mission Trip

Our medical mission team to Guatemala returned on Saturday, March 21st.  To learn more about the trip and view photo galleries and a short video, click HERE.
